The Nazi Papers

21st December 2nd, (and probably last) year of our Reich

Eureka! I have found it, the missing card of agent Flavious but I fear it is too late now. Time is running out and the end is near. We are in entropy, but the mistake has been discovered. Next time there will be NO mistakes.

Early July, 2nd year of our Reich.

A card arrives from Palimere who is located in Cornwall, or maybe Devon. A handwriting check made from the Great Book of Handwriting confirms it is indeed from Palimere also known as Amanda.

23rd July, 2nd year of our Reich.

Another card arrives from Cornwall. However there was a breakdown in procedure at a level lower than myself, the secretary has since been shot at dawn (repeatedly) and was interpreted as being from agent Amanda. It was in fact from agent Flavious, also known as Adrian. This card was lost (misfiled) until now, when its relevance is at last seen.

Result

The information that should have gone to agent Flavious, was sent to Agent Palimere. Agent Palimere not knowing the relevance of this information failed to make use it and agent Flavious not having the information couldn't make use of, it so a golden opportunity was lost.

How was such a ghastly mistake made? Historical commentators might debate this point for years to come as the turning point of the Great Reich, but I will save you the trouble of waiting and tell you myself.

Firstly, the two cards came from the same part of the country.

Secondly, agent Adrian didn't use his normal code (Plain blocked capitals).

Thirdly and most damming, agent Adrian used the word 'Armada' near the end of the last line, which my secretary warped into 'Amanda'.

With such convincing evidence, I now conclude that the fact that the details of Party membership fees were sent to the wrong person, is not my fault.

Herr Vlad. This next article is a summing up of what the role-play society was going to put in their magazine to be published in time for the Societies Fair in September 1989.
